Causeway Bay.Pho: North America Pho Experience In Hong Kong

Pho is definitely one of my favorite comfort food. There's nothing more comforting than having a bowl of pho in the winter and after getting drunk. The piping-hot broth does warm my tummy and cures everything!

Today I tried out Fûhn, a Vietnamese pho restaurant which featuring North America style pho. As pho is popping up everywhere in the US and Canada, the two Canada born Hong Konger decided to bring the authentic Vancouver style Pho to HK and give Hong Kongers a different experience of pho. For me, I never tried Vancouver style Pho before. Let’s see how it is :P

It’s “fuh”, not “pho”! Fûhn actually pronounces as fun but it also sounds like the word noodle (粉) in Chinese. Haha, what a clever and cute wordplay~!

Fûhn located in a building with a lot of restaurants. Although it is on the upper floor, it’s not that difficult to find as it is very close to the Causeway Bay MTR station, just about 3 minutes away. I was there at weekday dinner time. I just got my seat easily and didn’t have to wait.

Rare Steak & Beef Ball Fûhn L size ($79) 🌟🌟🌟🌟 

Pho is a must try here. There is plenty of choice in the menu, even the portion of pho! You are able to choose your pho size from regular to XXL (R/L/XL/XXL). I ordered L, and it was perfect for 2 girls to share. If you are a light eater, regular is enough for you. As for XL and XXL, hm… you could try it if you are more than two people or you are very very hungry! It was quite impressed that they served the pho with 8 kinds of herbs and a plate of bean sprouts, chill and lime. You can inquire the staff if you want to customize your pho with herbs! They also provide Hoisin sauce and Sriracha sauce as well, just same as North America.

Moving onto the beef pho. The pho came quick and the broth looked so clean and fresh! Topped with sliced raw beef, beef ball, green onion, the broth was savory and free from a layer of beef oil. The aroma of beef, onion and herbs were well balanced. The noodle was Thai rice noodle. It was thin and smooth, perfectly matched with the beef broth. And the portion was generous! I really liked the raw beef. They used Angus beef and it had a strong beefy flavour~Yum! The homemade beef balls were chewy to chew! Overall the pho was flavourful the price was reasonable. The only downside I can possibly think of was the broth was not hot enough.

Shrimp & Pomelo Salad ($75) 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Although the portion of this pomelo & shrimp salad looked huge and there are quite a lot of shrimps, half of the dish was actually lettuce. However, the salad tasted good. The pomelo was juicy and fresh. It was somewhat sour and was really appetizing!

Rice Paper Roll with Shrimp & Vermicelli (Free) 🌟🌟🌟

I redeemed this free rice paper roll with Whoot! and it was simply delicious! The rice paper roll was neatly wrapped. Its got shrimp, vermicelli and variety vegetable. It was very crunchy and refreshing. The rice paper was soft and won’t be too sticky. What I loved was their sauce. The sauce was made of Hoisin sauce and peanut butter. It was a traditional Vietnamese dipping sauce. Tasty, creamy and great for dipping!
