Causeway Bay.Izakaya: Tasty Donburi, Stone Pot Set Lunch at an Upstair Restaurant!

Lunch break is so so soooooo important to office workers. A better lunch break can really make us happier at work. So sometimes I will treat myself better with tasty foods. Recently I went to a Japanese restaurant (Izakaya) located in Circle Tower - Shiotama with my colleagues. It is a Japanese restaurant which famous for its Omakase and grilled food with different kinds of salt. However, Omakase course is not a daily diet for me so for this time, we tried out their lunch set.

Every lunch set includes sides dishes, miso soup and dessert. The set lunch is priced from $60 HKD, depending on what dish you go for (remember to like Shiotama’s Facebook Page for 20% off). The foods here were amazing and fresh. I would definitely go for its omakase next time!

Sides dishes: Chilled Tofu with Sesame Dressing + Salad 🌟🌟🌟

It was quite surprising to have two side dishes! Silken Tofu was yummy with the rich and creamy sesame dressing. The salad and the cherry tomato were quite fresh. Overall the two side dishes were both refreshing and light!

Matsuba Crab & Sea Urchin Rice in Stone Pot ($138) 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Wowwwwww, this was too appealing and evil! I thought the price is reasonable as there were sea urchin (uni), Matsuba crab meat, crab paste and crab roes. All ingredients were stuffed into a Matsuba crab carapace. And there was more crab paste between the rice and the crab carapace! Amazing! I tried the uni separately. It was fresh, creamy and it melted immediately in my mouth! It didn't smell fishy and disgusting. I mixed all the ingredients quickly while the stone pot was still hot. The crab paste and meat matched perfectly with the uni and hot rice. Uni has provided the sweet taste to accompany the delicate crab paste. It was really yummy and I would appreciate more if the stone pot was hotter.

Hokkaido Sea Urchin & Sashimi Donburi ($128) 🌟🌟🌟🌟

If you want to eat such sashimi donburi in Hong Kong, it will definitely cost more than HKD$150, especially there were both uni and salmon roe inside. This bowl is made of five kinds of sashimi: Hokkaido sea urchin, salmon roe, Matsuba crab meat, salmon and scallop. Sashimi was actually more than rice haha. The scallop and salmon were thick with nice textured. Uni was creamy and fresh. Salmon roe was juicy and pop with every bite! Its salty flavour was savoury to eat with rice~ Yum!

Chicken Inaniwa Udon 🌟🌟🌟🌟

This was the best light meal for girls who were on a diet! The base soup of udon was very light and there were quite a lot of tender-crisp vegetables and mushroom inside the bowl. Exactly a balanced meal! What I like the most is the grilled chicken! It was perfectly cooked. The skin was crispy whereas the chicken was tender and juicy! Udon didn’t overcook. It was simply delicious.

Pork Donburi with Scramble Egg 🌟🌟🌟

This was what my colleague ordered. Donburi included pork, scrambled egg, onion and green onion. The pork wasn't dry and it compliments nicely with the savoury sauce.

Set Desserts: Red Bean & Brown Sugar Wagashi + Soya Warabimochi 🌟🌟🌟

Wagashi and Warabimochi are both the traditional Japanese sweets. I loved these two desserts because they weren’t too sweet. The wagashi was maded with red bean paste, brown sugar and filled with custard. The mochi was very chewy and the filling was velvety and satiny smooth. The soya Warabimochi was deliciously chewy as well, and full of toasted and nutty aroma. It was good to have something sweet after the meal!
