Grassman Cafe: The Best Dining Spot in Hong Kong on a Rainy Day

With challenging working hours, countless social events...... In a city as hectic as Hong Kong, it’s never too late to find a way to take time off and de-stress, whether it’s cafes, laying on the grass or having a picnic. But can you imagine experiencing all of this on the busy streets of Tsim Sha Tsui? Let’s check out this idyllic grass themed cafe to calm your mind and soul on a rainy day.

In the midst of the hustle and bustle of Tsim Sha Tsui is an upper floor cafe called Grassman, which combines the ideas of a picnic and coffee.

With curated wooden shack decor, artificial grass, bonsais, and stone-shaped cushions, the relaxing atmosphere here makes Grassman a perfect place to escape the stress of city life and enjoy your weekend after a busy week.

Grassman’s menu has a simple cafe selection, which mainly features sweet and drinks with healthy set lunches also available.

Grassman’s healthy meal set, known as “cart rice” in Chinese, is customizable. This includes your choice of meat, vegetables and carbs. Every ingredient used here is whole and plant-based, which could definitely freshen up your diet!

Grassman’s Healthy Meal Set

Here’s how I customized my cart rice: brown rice with spinach as the base, Alaska cod as the main, and grilled pumpkin, green bean, cherry tomato as my sides.

The salt & black pepper seasoning was simple, yet highlights the flavor of the fish and vegetables. What I liked the most was the brown rice, which mixed well with spinach and garlic seasoning. Chewy, flavourful yet healthy!

63-degree Egg Spaghetti Carbonara

The Spaghetti carbonara tasted amazingly delicious as it was topped with a 63-degree boiled egg. It was so rich and creamy yet had a unique and satisfying texture, while all ingredients mixed well together thanks to the smooth egg yolk. Every bite had a slight eggy taste, yet you won’t feel stuffed from the creaminess.

Crispy Lawn Bowl

Dessert is definitely an essential part of a relaxing weekend! This crispy lawn bowl was not only delicious but amusing and instagramable! The grassland is made with green tea crumble and chocolate crisps, crack open the chocolate ball and you’ll be surprised with and cheesecake flavored ice cream and sweet wine jelly. Crispy Lawn Bowl=A dessert with endless flavor variations!!

Matcha Chiffon Cake

The cake had a rich matcha fragrance and left an alluring sweetness aftertaste in my mouth. I really liked that it wasn’t too sweet and you won’t get fed up with it. A must try dessert for matcha lovers!

Hot & Spicy Chicken Wings

Fried wings are always yummy to snack on and these are no exception. The single bone wings were easy to eat one-handed with no mess. Under the crispy batter was a tender and juicy interior, which complemented well with the chili powder. Heaven!
